Why donate to the Cross Cancer Institute?
A note from Margo: When I was diagnosed with follicular NHL, I visited the Cross Cancer Institute for treatment once a month for over sixteen months. I was also hospitalized there for weeks at a time when I got infections or when I was too sick from treatment. I go back every three months for check ups and I expect that I will probably have treatment there again. At one point, I was lying in my hospital bed, in unit 31, overwhelmed with the love and care I was getting, and I vowed that I would give something back to the Cross as soon as I could. For me, it was the little things at the Cross that made all the difference; the nurses, the smiles, the friendly wig salon, the volunteers, the warm blankets. These things somehow gave me the strength to keep going. These little things are what I try to focus our donation funds on; things that may not always be high on the funding priority list, but things that I was so very grateful for.
If you or someone you know needs cancer treatment in Northern Alberta, the Cross Cancer Institute is THE place that will provide that treatment. We are all touched by Cancer and in one way or another we are all touched by the Cross. This is a place in our own backyard that deserves all of our focus and dedication. This is OUR place.
